The MEGA RC400 Series are available in 2 lengths. They are designed for direct drive applications. With neodym magnets and the rotating case they give extremely high torque allowing the use of large diameter props. It has a hardened shaft supported by two ball bearings.

Motor Installation

The motor must be mounted on a rigid mounting with two M3 screws into the front plate. The screws should extend at least 3mm into the front plate, but not more than 5mm ( there is a risk of the motor windings being damaged). The RC motor has a rotating case - Beware of unsecured wires, parts or RC flight equipment etc.

To change the direction of rotation, simply switch over the connection of the two outer cables between the motor and the speed controller, but leave the centre cable connection untouched.

Test Data

The following test results where carried out in our own workshop. A TMM18e-3ph speed controller was used in all cases.

Motocalc Specs

By using our own tests we have come up with the following figures for the RC400 series motors that can be used in motor simulation programs such as Motocalc. These differ from the manufacture given specs but give more accurate results for power system estimations.
